Club member Laurie Edwards went on an exciting Amazon adventure in the Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve in northeastern Ecuador near the Colombia border approximately 3 years ago. The remote eco-lodge where she stayed is accessible only by canoe. Laurie shared with us photos of the diversified flora and fauna in the rainforest, including a 10' anaconda snake, a 3-toed sloth, a poison dart frog, and 9' long caimans.  She said canoeing on the waterways was much more fun and exciting than the jungle cruise at Disneyland.  The difficult hikes in the jungle often resulted in Laurie and her group getting stuck in deep mud that resembled quicksand. They also visited a small Indian community and the head shaman of the region.
