Cameron Park Rotary’s Mike Dugan has a word or two of warning for fellow Rotarians at this week’s luncheon meeting.  The meeting will be held at the Cameron Park Community Center.

“If you are on the Internet, use social networking, have a web page or a Facebook page, there's now a new "scam" that can cost you money no matter how careful you think you have been.

“I thought I was experienced and savvy enough to not worry about these things; I was wrong and it cost me $1,200! There have been many changes on the Internet; it's a good time to be prepared.”

The issues revolve around claims of copyright violation, mainly of images posted to sites by unsuspecting web users. Persons or entities purporting to own the copyrights demand immediate payment to avoid expensive, irksome lawsuits.

Mike will cover some of the things you can look for, and steps you might take to protect yourself.
