Who is Responsible?

Cameron Park is the lead Club for this component. The Vladivostok Clubs will be working closely with Cameron Park.

How and when will it be done?

If we had a clear picture of how this will be accomplished, we would not need the 3-H grant. However, because of the current economic situation in Russia, many vaccines are not available to all the children (60%). We are applying for the 3-H Grant to provide three years to develop a source for affordable vaccines. We have several options, which we are aggressively pursuing.

First is to develop a source in the Vladivostok area. They have facilities available, a well-educated labor pool, and inexpensive labor. They need technical assistance and equipment. The sponsoring Clubs and Krai Health Department are exploring ways to overcome these obstacles.

Second, there are several international efforts to provide inoculations for children worldwide. These include:

1. GAVI(Global Alliance for vaccines and Immunizations)
2. ECBT(Every Child By Two)
3. Bill & Melinda Gates foundation

Cameron Park Club members are currently working to determine if we can access affordable vaccines through these programs. We also believe that once we demonstrate that Rotarians can provide a viable immunization program in Vladivostok, Rotary will gain the credibility to become a major player in these other initiatives. Third, the Russian economy may improve enough so that they will be able to purchase vaccines to continue a comprehensive immunization program. In this case our goal is to develop the necessary momentum, from the people, to strongly encourage the government to continue this program and expand it throughout the Russian Far East (and beyond).
