- Total project cost
$309,538
- 3-H Grant request $284,538
- Duration of project while
funded by 3-H Grant 3 years
- Project Location Vladivostok,
Russia
- The population of the
benefiting community
Vladivostok, Russia population
is 700,000.We hope to
extend the program throughout the Russian Far East once the
self-help part of the program is established. That region would
include a population of 8 million.
- The benefiting community
Vladivostok is the largest seaport in the Russian Far East.
Socio-economic status presently is that of a country striving to
build its economy. The two co-sponsoring Russian Clubs, Vlad-Eco and
Vladivostok are located in the city. All of the children have no
inoculation against hepatitis and very few children get inoculations
against measles and mumps and few, if any, get inoculations against
rubella. There are about 270,000 children of age 10 or less (17,000
younger than age one); and about 163,000 between the ages of 10 -15.
These children are defenseless against these diseases and illnesses
in an economically devastated country, which presently lacks the
immunization protection we take for granted. The children of Russia
are its future, and without preventative measures now, Russia faces
the deterioration of minimal acceptable health standards for its
general population.
- Number of persons estimated
to directly benefit in the first three years:
The beneficiaries in Vladivostok
will be a total 10,200 per year or 30,600 over the three
years. Once the program is self-sustaining the number inoculated
could increase significantly as the program expands through the
Russian Far East.
