Our planned speaker this week had to cancel her appearance, so we had a meeting where the focus was on fellowship, good food from Dickey's Barbecue Pit, and some members getting up to talk about various club topics.
  • President Tiffany reminded us that the next meeting, on Sept. 20th is a breakfast meeting from 7:30-8:30 am at the Cameron Park Country Club.  Jordan Triveri said she would be calling a list of prospective members who have expressed interest in a breakfast meeting.
  • President Tiffany announced the annual Christmas Dinner & Party on Dec. 4th, and asked for volunteers to help.
  • Community Services:  Art Cort and Bill Gallant will be at the Observatory next Saturday and need one additional person to help them on the digging for new footings.
  • Bill Hughes proposed the idea of having the Club donate a bench at the Observatory with a plaque in honor of Chuck LePere. The bench would be for ADA purposes as well as to memorialize Chuck, who did so much volunteer work at the Observatory. There was discussion about the location, the price, and the materials for the bench and the plaque/inscription, and whether we should similarly memorialize a larger number of members who had passed away.  Jim Buckley proposed that a sub-committee be formed to discuss the memorial ideas and to make a proposal to the club.
