From Prison to the Page: James L’Etoile Discusses his Second Career as a Bestselling Author

James L’Etoile uses his twenty-nine years behind bars as an influence in his novels, short stories, and screenplays. He is a former associate warden in a maximum-security prison, a hostage negotiator, facility captain, and director of California’s state parole system. He is a nationally recognized expert witness on prison and jail operations. He has been nominated for the Silver Falchion for Best Procedural Mystery, and The Bill Crider Award for short fiction. EDC's Sister City in Warabi, Japan and Exchanges

For more than 44 years, we have had a sister city/county with Warabi, Japan. Initially started in preparation for the Bicenntennial in 1976, our county and the city of Warabi mutually agreed to share their cultures through exchanges. The El Dorado chapter of People to People International coordinates the adult and youth exchanges with the Sister City Association in Japan. Janet Sambucetti, the President of the El Dorado Chapter of PTPI will speak to us about our sister city and exchanges.

Polio is a virus that few Rotarians know much about yet Rotary has been at the forefront of eradicating it since 1979. Why is it still the number one priority for Rotary? Where is it in the world today and how is it similar to COVID-19? Rotarians Mike Crosby and Marsha Brown will share on Zoom their personal story of providing polio vaccine to young children in India a little over a year ago. They will also highlight polio, how it is transmitted and what’s being done to stop it – forever. Up to the minute numbers will also be shared. |

This year's Rotary International theme is "Serve to Change Lives." We will hear more about the theme and the exciting plans that District Governor Anita Daniels has planned for this Rotary this year. She will present Paul Harris Fellow pins to Greg Wood, Bill Gallant, Joe Ryan and Tom Elken and as well as acknowledge Bill Hughes for his PHF. In addition, she will present the Quiet Rotarian and the Heart of Service Awards. Let's give her a warm Rotary Club of Cameron Park welcome! |

His doctorate is from the University of Southern California and he has authored a dozen books in the association and non-profit field.
