Next Meeting: February 28, 2019:  Bill O'Neill, Registrar of Voters
Bill O'Neill the El Dorado County Registrar of Voters will speak about the challenges and rewards of that office.

Last Meeting, Feb-21, 2019—Justin Tilcoat
Justin Chilcoat, a recipient of our Darol Rasmussen Vocational Grant, spoke to us about his journey to and through his training to become a gunsmith.  Jason gave us some backgrouund on himself, his wife Madison Rae and his two daughters Haylie Grace and Eli James. There are only two viable gunsmithing schools in the West -- Colorado and in Susanville, CA -- so Jason chose to attend the Susanville school.  He began the 18 month program in August of 2016.  He loved the Susanville area, even though he was away from his family during the week.  The program had 22 students at the start and only 14 by the end. He completed the program successfully earning an Associates in Science in Firearm Repair and General Gunsmithing.

How did the Cameron Park Rotary scholarship help him?  It provided the funds that allowed him to purchase the following items to set up his gunsmithing shop: an epoxy floor, a bench, security cameras, basic shop commodities and consumables, a business license and LLC expenses.  In the future, Jason wants to complete a 4-year degree and to continue to learn modern-day industrial skills.  The web site for his business is https://www.elitefirearmsandsolutions.com/
