Last Meeting (May 24, 2018)  First 5 El Dorado Commission
Kathleen Guerrero is the executive director for First 5 El Dorado Commission. In EDC, mental health diagnosis in pregnant women is more than 2-1/2 times the state average, substance abuse in infants is nearly doubled and domestic violence calls are approximately 1-1/2 times greater than the state average. Reducing the toxic stress of family violence, substance abuse and mental health problems is the goal of an innovative El Dorado County effort called Community Hub, which is a part of the BOS Strategic Plan for Healthy Communities. Community Hubs are located in each of the 5 Supervisorial districts; all varying in needs.  Each have a multi-disciplinary team consisting of an Early Childhood Literacy Specialist, Family Engagement Specialist, Community Health Advocate, and Public Health Nurse to help meet the critical needs of local families (where they live) with children 18 and under. For more information, please visit: www.first5eldorado.com/community-hubs.

Rachel Amador Receives Blue Badge
President Anne Eckert and Mike Dugan congratulated Rachel Amador (left) on earning her Blue Badge. Rachel is one of our new great members who works quietly without a lot of fanfare. She thanked members for allowing her to join our Rotary family, and is excited to serve.  She joked that she is quiet in Rotary, but not in every day life or work at Ponte Palmero with President-Elect Tiffany Triveri.  Rachel is a marketing director. Congratulations, Rachel!

Announcements

Ben Young - June 21 is the party (club social) for fellowship, and to honor President Anne and our accomplishments during her term. It is at Don Fuller's home beginning at 5:30 p.m.  A sign-up sheet was circulated. Make sure you get your name on it as the caterer needs to know numbers. No lunch meeting.
Vickie Christensen - Invited everyone to look at the District 5190 website to catch the live stream of the amazing conference speakers on District 5190 Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/heidi.t.kuhn/videos/1765520450199007
- Presented the club citations from the District that were awarded in the areas of membership development, community service, vocational service, Polio Plus contributions and public image. Great job Cameron Park Rotarians.
Dick Franks - Reminded members that Wine at Town Center is only 9 days and one meeting away. He specifically emphasized the need for help with "day of" activities like set up and clean up. He asked for all auction items today or at the latest next Thursday, but if it is an item that he hasn't been told about, he must have a description of it by Monday, May 28.
Ken Bryant - He has Wine at Town Center tickets and to see him immediately following the meeting. One table and a couple of individuals all asked for tickets.
Joe Ryan - 86 bikes were distributed Tuesday with our members working in concert with two other service organizations to make that happen. Foster kids and veteran's kids were both recipients.
Chuck LePere - Appealed to the club membership to consider volunteering to become the Rotary representative for an Interact Club at Ponderosa High School. Interact is in the process of being restarted at Ponderosa and the absolute first step is identifying the Rotary representative to the school's club. Chuck concluded with a plea to "search your heart" when considering this position.
