Next Meeting, Nov-02-2023:  Robert Taylor, Rotarian from Michigan
Please join us this Thursday at the CC for a great meeting! Our guest is Rob Taylor, a member of the Rotary Club Muskegon, Michigan, who will be visiting us this week along with his wife Priscilla. He read about our famous bike program in the Rotary magazine. He is president of not-for-profit -- the Muskegon County Bicycling Coalition -- that repairs bikes for their local bike library at the local library.  They now use volunteers to repair bikes but are very interested in expanding and improving their program. The use of inmate bike mechanics is very appealing in order to make their program more robust and sustainable. His appearance will be more of sharing of ideas, particularly from our club and our bike program.
Last Meeting, Oct-26-2023:  District Governor Stacy Graham
District Governor Stacy Graham joined Auburn Daybreak Rotary in 2000 and in 2018 she transferred to Auburn Gold Country Rotary. At the Club level, Stacy has held many chair positions and leadership roles, but none has given her more satisfaction and joy as Club President. She enjoyed it so much she has been Club President x3. DG Stacy is a proud member of the Bequest Society, Paul Harris Society, Polio Plus Society, she is a Paul Harris +8, Major Donor and member of District 5190 Triple Crown.

Stacy congratulated our club for a total of $383,000 in total giving over it's history, and for being the club with the 2nd-largest-in-the-district donation to last year's Mobile Clinics for the Ukraine project.

Before DG Stacy imparted her inspiring message, she gave Prez Cathy the honor of presenting several awards to members.  The first was Rotarian of the Month award  to Laurie Edwards (right) for her work on the Meeting at the Observatory and her work as Foundation Chair.  Next was the Silent Rotarian award that went to the stunned Rich Grieco for his great contributions as a teamster in the Bike Project and the Dictionary project among others.

The Rotary from the Heart Award went to the very deserving Marlyn Pino-Jones (right), for her tireless work lining up programs and speakers, her generous donations and her work in finding sponsors and auction items for the Christmas Party.

Next there were presentations of Paul Harris Fellow pins for increased levels of donations to RI causes such as the Rotary Foundation , Polio Plus and others.  The awardees were
Sabrina Ho (left), Marlyn Pino-Jones (already pictured), and Tom Elken (right)

DG Stacey told the story about how it came to be that in 2006 she dedicated her life to Rotary.  She was speaking to a crown of 200 at her mother's Celebration of life, including many Rotarians who were supporting Stacey more than anything, since most did not know Stacey's mother.  Afterwards, Rotarian Gordon McInally (current RI President) gave Stacey an angel as a gift.

Stacey says she is an extreme introvert and suffers from anxiety and OCD.  Gordon told her that she needs to go out and tell her story.  Stacey urges us as a club to make an initiative towards supporting better mental health, as our RI President urges all clubs to do.  Especially it would be great if we could reach out to students to help them through some of their struggles.  She was a very inspiring speaker that made an impact on us all.
