 Jennifer Bassett is Founder and Executive Director of Hands4Hope-Youth, an outstanding local foundation that provides Education and Community Engagement Programs for youth in El Dorado and Sacramento Counties. With youth centers in El Dorado Hills and a Youth Center in Placerville, Hands4Hope provides oversight and mentorship to youth-led service and learning clubs and committees for youth in 6th-12th grades at schools in Folsom, and at clubs at Oak Ridge and Ponderosa high schools. Jennifer was joined by two youth leaders of Hand4Hope -- Simone from Ponderosa High School and Grace from Oak Ridge H.S. -- who very capably did most of the presenting. Like a big company, Hands4Hope has a mission, vision, and core values. Their mission is to inspire and empower youth in leadership & service. Their vision is to create a community of civic-minded and socially responsible citizens; and their core values are: youth-driven, inclusion, service, collaboration and integrity. |
Membership Chair Anne Eckert and President Mike presented a red badge to new member Cathy Dugan, Mike's wife. Cathy is a retired hospice nurse. She is interested in community service projects and in scholarships for home health care workers. She is also an AKC dog show judge. She wants to continue to serve her community.
Joe Ryan told us something about his service career in the Navy aboard diesel submarines. He also marched in a Veterans Day parade in Folsom wearing his submariner vest. The veterans in attendance and honored at this meeting are, from left: Bill Ettlich, Doug Bisbee, Bob Dorr, Steve Long, Rich Grieco, and Joe Ryan.
