Club member Sid Bazett, who also serves on the Cameron Park Community Services District Board of Directors, will share highlights from his recent trip to Japan, where he participated in the 50th anniversary celebration of the sister-city relationship between El Dorado County and Warabi through People to People El Dorado.  Sid also extended his travels to other cities in Japan and then went to the Philippines.  He will also briefly highlight this month’s Youth Summit in Warabi, where local students are being hosted by Japanese families as part of the long-running cultural exchange program.

District Governor-Elect Kurt Raffetto and Past District Governor Dennis Geare presented Bill Ettlich with a commemorative plate recognizing his 51 years of dedicated service to Rotary.  Bill is a valued member of the Rotary Club of Cameron Park,  serving as Secretary Emeritus on the club’s board and contributing to nearly every service project.  Congratulations, Bill, and thank you for your many years of outstanding service to Rotary and our community.

President Adam Marshall recognized Gary Clarke for his outstanding leadership in organizing two back-to-back club fundraisers.  As chair of the Rotary Club’s beer and wine booth at the recent El Dorado County Fair, Gary helped the club generate approximately $3,000 more than last year despite rising operating costs.

Gary has also coordinated the club’s Rotaryville Margarita Booth at the Cameron Park Summer Spectacular. This year’s event celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Summer Spectacular, the 50th anniversary of Cameron Park, and the 250th anniversary of the United States.

In appreciation of his tireless efforts, President Adam presented Gary with a bottle of tequila. Thank you, Gary, for your dedication and hard work in raising funds that support student scholarships and many of the Rotary Club’s community service projects.                                                                 

Scholarship Chair Dave Sargent introduced Ponderosa High School graduate Kyle Reagan, one of six recipients of the Cameron Park Rotary’s $2,000 academic scholarships. Sargent noted that Kyle’s accomplishments were too numerous to fully cover, but highlighted his 4.29 GPA, two years on the varsity tennis team, including serving as captain, and his talent as a concert pianist who received additional training at the University of the Pacific.

Kyle was a member of the California Scholarship Federation and Link Crew, where he helped incoming freshmen transition to high school. He served as senior editor of Ponderosa’s weekly video bulletin, which was broadcast throughout the campus, and independently created two YouTube channels, demonstrating his passion for technology and digital media.

Kyle thanked the Rotary Club for its confidence in him and said he plans to attend the Savannah College of Art and Design, where he will study visual effects with the goal of working on blockbuster films and television productions. He also expressed his appreciation for the many ways the Rotary Club serves the local community.
