 Ken Futernick and Brian Veerkamp came to speak to us about "Bridging Divides." Ken Futernick, Ph.D., is currently leading an effort in El Dorado County in northern California to bridge political and social divides within and across all major sectors of the community. For more information, see https://www.bridgingdivides-eldorado.org. Kristina Vasquez, El Dorado Project coordinator for Bridging Divides was also at the meeting. Ken Futernick is a life-long educator, writer, and educational consultant to schools, school districts, and policy makers across the United States. His interests include labor-management partnerships, educator recruitment and retention, school and district transformation, implementation science, and community depolarization. Brian Veerkamp has a long career in firefighting in El Dorado County and In 2012, Brian was elected to the El Dorado County Board of Supervisor’s and served two four-year terms for District 3. Brian was elected El Dorado Irrigation District's board in November 2020 and has been selected as the board president for 2023.
