Jason Collin, Mayor of South Lake Tahoe and Certified High Performance Coach, gave us a high-energy, motivational speech about his MOJO Project whose goal is to leverage the power of people and purpose to create happy, healthy, loyal teams. MOJO comes from the first two letters of MOmentum and JOy. He explained how momentum can create joy, and if you lose your momentum, joy can help you get momentum going again. He told the story of how he had both legs crushed in a car accident 3 years ago, yet the support and joy provided by his family and friends and many successful surgeries have restored his momentum. The objective of a team is to be able to achieve more than a group of individuals can achieve separately. He used the analogies of the V-shaped flight of geese or a peleton of bike racers to describe how teams can achieve much more than separated individuals (in this case due to alternating the lead position, and letting as many as possible draft off the work of those ahead). Mr. Collins described how three wheels or targets or Drivers composed of Personal, Professional and High Performance attributes can help the members of a team focus on traits or habits that will help improve themselves and the team. For example, the Personal target had attributes of Psychology, Physiology, Fuel, Refuel and Tribe. For more information about Jason's MOJO Project and his services, see https://www.mojoproject.life/ |
