Dave Sargent presided over the Cameron Park Rotary Community Foundation annual meeting. The first couple items on the agenda was to approve the minutes of the last meeting and to vote on the slate of candidates for the three positions available this year: Anne Eckert, Incumbent; Dick Franks, Incumbent; and Roger Hassler, replacing Debra Miller. These items were approved unanimously by the membership. Dave provided a snapshot of the financial condition of the foundation, with the headline being our approximately $364,000 balance. There are several other organizations that pool their money in our foundation to enable tax-deductible (perhaps, depending on your situation) donations without the large overhead of establishing such a relationship with the IRS. Two new organizations taking advantage of this are the Observatory Steering Committee, and the Buckeye School STEM Program. Dave also discussed issues and possible directions for the Club as we embark on our next 50 years. How will we find additional energy and how will we set priorities for future projects? Mike Dugan spoke on some of the future speakers coming to our club, many from our County government, and encouraged members attending those meetings to look for issues and causes arising from those meetings as inspiration for new projects for our club. We have a significant amount of funds available in Rotary Foundations, we just need the energy and leadership to define and execute these projects! |
