Next Meeting, Sep. 6th: Assemblyman Kevin Kylie, District 6 Update
Assemblyman Kevin Kylie will provide an update on our district and surrounding areas.  District 6 includes communities to the East and North of Sacramento, from Latrobe in the southeast to Sheridan in  the northwest, and including Cameron Park and El Dorado Hills  (see map ).
Last Meeting, Aug-30th -- Jennifer Donchenko, Sweet Dreams Foundation
Jennifer Donchenko presented the story of the Sweet Dreams Foundation.  Jennifer founded this organization which has the mission to "improve the quality of life for children who have been diagnosed with a life threatening disease through the creation of their Dream bedroom."  They have assisted approximately 20 children by building them a dream bedroom.  Jennifer showed us a video that came from the "Good Day Sacramento" show of how much this gift meant to Connor, who is battling Leukemia, and to his family.  To get involved, participate in an event, or donate, please visit Sweet Dreams web site .

One way that the organization is trying to raise funds is through a product that Jennifer and friends developed, Roos Wraps.  We saw a video of how these keep the baby happy (while strapped to the parent's legs) and the parent fit at our meeting.  To learn more, or purchase, please visit RoosWraps.com

Announcements
Mike Dugan recapped the results of Monday's golf tournament. The estimate of profit was $7,500 and thanks were given to sponsors Dave Crofut (Land Home Financial Services), Jana Ellerman (Guthrie and Ellerman) and Gary Gall. He also announced a meeting of the tournament committee after lunch.
Bill Hughes called our attention to the "Salute to Valor" fifth annual fund raising golf tournament to benefit county veterans. It is scheduled on September 24th at Serrano Country Club. (postcards on tables)
Dave Sargent conducted a brief Community Foundation Board Election vote. Ben Foulk was officially nominated and then unanimously approved by acclamation for the vacant Foundation Board seat  for a three-year term.
Dick Franks (with a little help from Roger Hassler) explained the concept of a bell ringer and again passed around a sign-up sheet for those Rotarians who wanted to make a one time donation in lieu of weekly happy bucks contributions.
Art Cort briefly explained that the bike transport from the transfer site to Folsom prison occurred last Tuesday. With only one pick up truck and one SUV available, some bikes had to be left at the transfer station. Next bike transport day is the fourth Tuesday of September--please help.
PE Dave Crofut called the attention of all members to the Rotarian magazine for this month, wherein Rotary's 2019 International Convention in Hamburg, Germany is highlighted. The dates are June 1-5, 2019 so planning must be started now.

Guests & Visitors

Visitors included Janet Yarbrough, formerly in a Rotary Club at Pleasanton, CA, who will soon be transferring her membership to this club.  Also, Friend of Rotary, Captain Sean Cox was in attendance.  ADG Vickie had Carla Carlson as guest.  Other guests included Chick and Lynn Cockrell, Chris Payne, Sara,  Don (from Hayward) and Jeff Wood, a visitor from the EDH Rotary Club.

Happy Bucks or Not So Happy Bucks:
Bob Dorr was $5 happy--$3 for a late arrival and $2 for finishing last in the golf tournament.
Jana Ellerman was $25 happy for many momentous family birthdays: her triplets(now turning 25), her youngest daughter and next week her husband.
Doug Bisbee has lessened his out of town commuting by selling his last distant rental house. He also has a new pick up truck and he and Dottie just had a 62nd wedding anniversary. He offered a generous $100 happy buck donation for those events.
Dick Franks loved his 3 week African vacation to the tune of $10.
Mike And Cathy Dugan enjoyed an 11 day Great Lakes cruise and returned home to two litters of 8 water dog puppies each. Mike was $50 joyful for the two events.
Jordan Triveri's happy birthday was today and (at her mom's suggestion), she offered $27 in happy bucks to note the occasion.
Hal Young noted his return from a 12 day trip to Iceland with his wife Denise with a $20 contribution.
Former member Carla Carlsen who was visiting today, donated $20 for the joy of being back at a Cameron Park Rotary meeting and for the fact that she will receive her first Social Security check in three weeks time.
